이 싱글은 정규앨범 [LILY]의 선공개 트랙으로, 편지 형식으로 쓰여진 곡입니다.
듣는 분께 직접 마음을 건네듯, 스스로를 몬테크리스토로 칭하며 내면의 고백과 갈등을 담았습니다.
거짓과 진실, 배신과 구원 사이에서 흔들리는 감정을 솔직하게 표현하고자 했습니다.
그저 음악으로만 들리는 것이 아니라, 고전문학이나 연극처럼 느껴지길 바라는 마음으로 곡을 만들었습니다.
이번 곡의 리듬과 사운드는 힙합, 특히 90년대 멤피스 사운드에서 영감을 받았습니다.
로파이한 샘플과 Chopped & Screwd 방식으로 강렬하고도 극적인 질감을 만들었고, 감정의 흐름을 따라가며 제가 상상한 이모셔널 멤피스의 분위기를 표현 했습니다.
현악기와 보컬은 장르의 틀보다 감정의 결을 따르며, 슈게이즈에서 영감을 받아 공간감과 잔향을 확장했습니다.
후반부에 등장하는 기타는 Dutch’ 톤을 참고하여, 천둥이 치는 몬테크리스토 섬의 무겁고 드라마틱한 이미지를 표현했습니다.
아트워크는 베를린을 거점으로 활동하는 무대 연출가 박동수님의 드로잉을 사용했으며,
이는 앞으로 발매될 정규앨범의 시각적 무드와도 자연스럽게 이어집니다.
이 곡은 곧 발매 될 정규 앨범의 핵심 주제인 '기다림과 부재'를 가장 직접적으로 담고 있으며,
앨범 서사의 시작점이 되는 트랙입니다.
11월 12일 [Monte Cristo] 선공개 이후, 2026년 초 두번째 정규앨범 [LILY] 가 발매될 예정입니다.

The single “Monte Cristo” will be released at noon on Wednesday, November 12.
This single serves as a pre-release track from my upcoming full-length album [LILY].
Written in the form of a letter, it delivers my thoughts directly to the listener,calling myself Monte Cristo as I reveal an inner confession filled with conflict.
The song expresses emotions swaying between lies and truth, betrayal and redemption, and was created with the hope that it could feel not only like music,but like a piece of classic literature or a theatrical work.
The rhythm and sound are inspired by hip-hop, particularly the 1990s Memphis sound. Using lo-fi samples and Chopped & Screwed techniques, I built a strong and dramatic texture, following the emotional flow to express what I imagine as an “Emotional Memphis” atmosphere.
The strings and vocals follow the texture of emotion rather than the boundaries of genre, drawing inspiration from shoegaze to expand the sense of space and resonance.
In the latter part, the guitar tone was inspired by the Dutch tone, depicting the heavy and dramatic image of Monte Cristo Island under thunder.
The artwork features a drawing by stage director Dongsoo Park, who is based in Berlin. It naturally connects to the visual mood of the upcoming album.
This track directly reflects the core theme of the forthcoming album “Waiting and Absence” and serves as the starting point of its narrative.
After the pre-release of Monte Cristo on November 12, my second full-length album [LILY] is scheduled for release in early 2026.
